How strength levels work
Strength standards are expressed as a multiple of bodyweight, because a 150 lb lifter and a 220 lb lifter lifting the same weight are not equally strong for their size. As a rough guide for men, an intermediate lifter benches about 1.25×, squats 1.75× and deadlifts 2× bodyweight; advanced is roughly 1.5× / 2× / 2.5×. Women’s ratios run about 0.6–0.7× of these.

What strength level am I?

What is a good bodyweight-ratio for the main lifts?
For men, common intermediate marks are about a 1.25× bench, 1.75× squat and 2× deadlift; advanced is roughly 1.5× / 2× / 2.5×. Women’s standards run about 0.6–0.7× of the male numbers.
What is a one-rep max (1RM)?
Your one-rep max is the heaviest weight you can lift for a single repetition with good form. It is the standard measure of maximal strength and the reference point for setting training percentages.
Is it safe to test my true one-rep max?
Maximal singles carry more injury risk and need a thorough warm-up and ideally a spotter. For most lifters, estimating your 1RM with a calculator is safer and accurate enough for programming.
